Four things, in order of impact.
Table count. This is the single biggest lever. Centerpieces are priced per table, so a 200-guest wedding at 10 people per table needs 20 arrangements. Dropping to 12 per table cuts that to 17 and saves real money without changing the look.
Ceremony installations. An arch, chuppah or arbor covered in fresh florals is often the largest single line on a proposal. A partial design that focuses flowers where photographs are taken costs less than a fully covered structure.
Flower choice and season. Peonies in October cost several times what they cost in June, because they are shipped rather than grown nearby. Roses, carnations and chrysanthemums hold steady year round.
Labour and delivery. Installations that must be assembled on site, or a venue that only allows access two hours before the ceremony, add labour. So does a second delivery to move ceremony pieces to the reception.
What does a bridal bouquet cost?
A bridal bouquet typically runs $250 to $500 in this region. Bridesmaid bouquets are usually $85 to $150 each, boutonnieres $18 to $30, and corsages $30 to $45.
Bouquet price tracks stem count and flower type more than size. A loose garden-style bouquet of ranunculus and garden roses uses more expensive stems than a structured bouquet of hydrangea, even when both look full.
What do ceremony and reception flowers cost?
Ceremony arrangements such as altar pieces or aisle markers commonly run $200 to $600 per pair. A fully covered arch or chuppah generally starts around $1,200 and rises with size and flower choice.
Reception centerpieces range from about $75 for a low bud-vase grouping to $400 or more for an elevated arrangement. Head table garlands are priced by the foot, usually $40 to $90 per foot depending on greenery and blooms.
How can you lower the cost without it looking cheap?
Reuse ceremony pieces at the reception. Two large altar arrangements can move to the head table or the bar, which is the highest-value saving available and costs only a small labour fee.
Choose flowers in season for your month. Ask your florist what is at its best rather than naming a specific bloom.
Concentrate flowers where guests gather and photographs happen: the bridal bouquet, the ceremony focal point, the head table and the bar. Sparse florals in a hallway nobody photographs are money spent where it is not seen.
Use fewer, larger tables. Every table removed is one centerpiece removed.
When should you book your florist?
Book eight to twelve months before the wedding for a Saturday in peak season, which in Pennsylvania means May, June, September and October. Popular dates go earlier. Off-peak and weekday weddings can often be booked four to six months out.
Booking early does not usually lower the price, but it protects your date and gives time to refine the design.
